DRA Engineering - overview

DRA Construct Engineering was founded over 30 years ago as an abattoir engineering company. In 1984 it was acquired by the DRA company along with processing technology and key personnel from Altec Engineering Services Pty Ltd which was a major force in the W.A. engineering and contracting industry during the 1970's, carrying out projects in Western Australia, South Australia and Northern Territory.

Abattoir engineering

DRA Construct Engineering is still a major abattoir engineering company with the skill and know how to design, build, commission and train personnel for abattoirs processing cattle, sheep, deer, ostrich and pig. DRA Construct Engineering is a world licensee to MIRINZ for the mechanical lamb slaughter system, which the company has further developed for other species.

Automation

DRA Construct Engineering also specialises in the design, manufacture and interface of customised materials handling, conveyor and automation systems for a wide range of industries including, mining, chemical, pharmaceutical, agriculture & food processing. Construct Engineering is a recognized ABB Robotics Systems Integrator and can provide all the necessary local technical support for robot based automation packages.

Crane design & construction

In house projects have included the design and manufacture of the Humma 20-25, Humma UV 30-25 all terrain cranes and the RF14 all terrain 14 tonne forklift. The versatility and capability of the company's design and manufacturing personnel is highlighted in these projects.

Location

DRA Construct Engineering operates from premises at 31 Cutler Road, Jandakot, Western Australia. There are offices and an undercover workshop area of approximately 5,000 square metres. Clean areas for inspection, electrical & pneumatic component assembly and the commissioning of turnkey automation systems are also included on the premises. Weekly sailings to overseas destinations ensure rapid service to all clients. Road and rail service ensures that East Coast Australian companies are serviced well.

As a multi disciplined design and build engineering company using the latest 3D solid modelling software, up to date manufacturing techniques and PLC control systems, DRA Construct Engineering has gained considerable experience and an excellent reputation in the automation industry.
